Oklahoma RB Suspended For Season Opener
As if replacing Adrian Peterson wasn't enough of a challenge, the depth in the Oklahoma backfield has taken a hit for the season opener. News broke late Monday night of the suspension of running back Chris Brown for the Sooners' game with North Texas.
OU coach Bob Stoops said Monday sophomore running back Chris Brown has been suspended for the game.
Stoops declined further comment.
"That's internal," he said.
Brown had a stellar freshman campaign a year ago in which he rushed for 343 yards and four touchdowns. His suspension could leave OU a little thin at running back for the opener. Expected starter Allen Patrick is still nursing an ankle injury and did not practice with the team on Monday.
According to Stoops, Patrick's status remains uncertain.
"If we think he's close enough to full speed and not going to re-injure it and make a difference for us, then he'll play," Stoops said.
With Brown out and Patrick questionable, fans might get a chance to see more of uber-talented freshman DeMarco Murray along with Jacob Gutierrez and fellow redshirt freshman Mossis Madu.
