And we're back
Sorry for the three-day absence. Kevin and Mark are enjoying some well-earned time off and I was in Milwaukee to see the Brewers and Royals. Nothing says great interleague baseball like a Brewers-Royals matchup.
Of course, the absence of a main post on Access Vikings did not slow down the comments section and the fact that, as usual, Moncton and crew were all over the breaking news of the past few days. (The NFL slows down, but it never really ends these days and all these Garnett trade rumors make life even more exciting.)
Interesting to see the Bears released defensive tackle Tank Johnson after his latest incident. This hasn’t been a great offseason for the Bears. Yes, Chicago signed cornerback Nathan Vasher to a rich contract extension Monday, but the team has had to deal with the situation involving Johnson and still has a very unhappy linebacker in Lance Briggs on its hands.
Next up for the Vikings will be signing the remainder of their draft picks. Here’s the current situation. Keep in mind that talks on a Adrian Peterson contract won’t heat up until after July 4.
– 1st round (seventh overall): RB Adrian Peterson, unsigned
– 2nd (44): WR Sidney Rice, unsigned
– 3rd (72): CB Marcus McCauley, unsigned
– 4th (102): DE Brian Robison, unsigned
– 5th (146): WR Aundrae Allison, unsigned
– 6th (176): LB Rufus Alexander, four-year deal
– 7th (217): QB Tyler Thigpen, signed
– 7th (233) WR Chandler Williams, four-year deal
