Southern star slowly rises again
The North football teams had its chance but have failed to do anything but reinforce the notion the South is superior.
North teams are 3-13 against the South Division this year. And the only North victories this season have been Colorado over Texas Tech, Kansas State over Oklahoma State and Missouri over Texas Tech. There are only two cross- division games remaining: Nebraska at Texas A&M and Texas at Kansas State, both on Nov. 11.
According to Oklahoma’s Bob Stoops told none of this is enough to divide the conference.
"I don't segment the conference like maybe everyone else does," Stoops said. "I don't think any of the coaches do. There's good players in both divisions, and good coaches. We look at it as one big league.
"Every year, everybody's good. A lot of good players are spread around to everybody. I think that's obvious to everyone. (There's) good coaching. I feel it is in the North, too."
Meanwhile, Oklahoma certainly misses their star running back Adrian Peterson, who broke his collarbone scoring a touchdown Oct. 14 against Iowa State and likely is out for the season. But not as much as was first thought. Peterson's replacement, junior Allen Patrick, has averaged 136 yards rushing in the two games he has started, including a 162-yard outburst in the Sooners' win at Missouri.
