Oklahoma wins without injured Peterson
Oklahoma wins 24-3, Aggies force victory in OT against OSU

Adrian Peterson stood on the Oklahoma sideline Saturday, dressed in a sweatshirt and a sling for his left arm.
But the Sooners didn't play around the hole left by Oklahoma's star running back.
They let Peterson's replacement, Allen Patrick, introduce himself by running for 110 yards, helping No. 20 Oklahoma to a 24-3 win over Colorado.
"I was excited, because I was getting to play the whole game," Patrick said. "I just wanted to let Colorado know who I was and that I was on the field."
Patrick's greeting from the Buffalo defense was far from warm, though. Patrick got 35 carries Saturday, and he found himself on the bottom of a gold and white pile after most of them.
"We came out with great intensity. We came out stopping the run," said Colorado linebacker Thaddaeus Washington. "I didn't think they were going to come into the game not running the ball."
But Colorado (1-7, 1-3 Big 12) got to know Patrick a little more than Oklahoma originally designed.
"We had planned to have more of a passing game, but because of the weather, we ended up running a little more," Patrick said.
The howling winds in Norman, Okla., seemed to not only determine how the Sooners scored, but also when they put up their points, as Oklahoma (5-2, 2-1) only scored when the wind was at their back.
Oklahoma coach Bob Stoops even called two timeouts to keep the wind in the Sooners' favor before Garret Hartley's field goal made it 10-0 at the end of the first quarter.
The wind also explains why Peterson donned a sweatshirt. But more important is the sling that aids in his recovery from last weeks broken collarbone.
And though that sling keeps him from suiting up for the Sooners, it didn't stop him from helping his team Saturday in the form of advice for his former backup.
"He gave me pointers when I needed them," Patrick said. "He kept telling me to cut to the outside, and then things started happening."
Iowa State winless in Big 12
This was supposed to be Iowa State's breakout year.
But after two seasons of finishing second in the Big 12 North, the Cyclones probably won't have to deal with the disappointment of almost making it to the conference championship.
Iowa State's conference woes continued Saturday, when Texas Tech (5-3, 2-2 Big 12) beat the Cyclones (3-5, 0-4), 42-26, behind a 368-yard passing performance from Red Raider quarterback Grahm Harrell.
"We didn't expect to be 3-5 right now," Iowa State quarterback Bret Meyer said. "Obviously we are frustrated, but we need to go back to work. We have four weeks left."
At the rate they're going, the Cyclones' frustration might be of the team that finishes at the bottom of the conference, as Iowa State and Kansas are now the only two teams in the Big 12 without a win in Big 12 play.
A&M beats Cowboys in OT
Texas A&M loves going to overtime.
For the second time this season, the Aggies outlasted a team in overtime, beating visiting Oklahoma State on Saturday, 34-33, in the first extra period.
Texas A&M forced the game into extra frames with a 2-yard touchdown toss from quarterback Stephen McGee as time expired, knotting the score at 27-27.
The Aggies (7-1, 3-1 Big 12) got the ball to start overtime and scored with a Jorvorskie Lane run. Oklahoma State (4-3, 1-2) answered with a 15-yard touchdown toss, needing only an extra point to go to a second overtime period.
But Aggie defensive lineman Red Bryant blocked the extra point, giving Texas A&M the win and keeping the Aggies tied with Baylor at second in the Big 12 South standings.
