Peterson Tops All Rookie Team
The Minnesota Vikings were recognized with 2 players on the Pro Football Weekly/Pro Football Writers of America All-Rookie Team and had 2 others named to the PFW/PFWA All-NFL team.
Vikings standout RB Adrian Peterson highlighted the list as the PFW/PFWA Rookie of the Year and a spot on the All-Rookie Team. Adrian Peterson was joined by 4th-round draft choice DE Brian Robison.
Peterson ranked 2nd in the NFL in rushing yards with 1,341 and scored 12 rushing TDs en route to a Pro Bowl berth and several Rookie of the Year honors. Robison ranked 3rd among NFL rookies with 4.5 sacks and started 5 games for the Vikings at RDE. Robison was the 14th DE drafted in 2007 and joins only Indianapolis DT Ed Johnson as defensive players on the All-Rookie team that were not selected in
the 1st or 2nd round of the 2007 Draft. There were only 3 players drafted outside of the 1st or 2nd round on the entire All-Rookie offense and defense with Robison and Johnson joined by Buffalo QB Trent
Edwards, a 3rd-round pick.
"I'm very happy about the award because it's something that I've worked hard for," Robison said.
"I've got to thank my family and friends who have been so supportive through everything. The coaching staff and the entire Vikings organization have been great to me. I appreciate them taking a chance on me in the draft and I can't wait to get the 2008 season started and accomplish our goals on the field."
The Vikings featured G Steve Hutchinson and DT Kevin Williams as members of the PFW/PFWA All-NFL team, following up their selections as Associated Press All-Pros earlier in the week.
